Battle of Nyárasd
The Battle of Nyárasd was a battle in the Hungarian war of Independence of 1848-1849, fought on 13 January 1849 between a detachment of the Hungarian Garrison of Komárom led by Colonel Ferdinand Querlonde du Hammel against part of the besieging troops of the Austrian Empire, led by Major General Gustav Freiherr von Geramb. The Hungarians defeated the Austrians, putting them to flight, and killing General Geramb. This battle was one of the couple of skirmishes preceding the Siege of Komárom.
