Battle of Namacurra
The Battle of Namacurra was fought during World War I in Portuguese Mozambique between the First Portuguese Republic and their British allies against the German Empire. It took place on July 1–3, 1918, at the Namacurra River near Namacurra. It was the bloodiest engagement of German general Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck's campaign into Mozambique, and 209 of the British and Portuguese died.
