New York State Route 308 (NY 308) is a 6.19 miles (9.96 km) long state highway located entirely in northern Dutchess County, New York. It serves mainly as a shortcut for traffic from the two main north-south routes in the area, US 9 and its alternative route NY 9G, to get to NY 199 and the Taconic State Parkway. A portion of NY 308 is located along the Rhinebeck Village Historic District, a 1,670 acre (6.7 km²) historic district containing 272 historical structures. The highway also passes the Dutchess County Fairgrounds, several historical landmarks, and the Landsman Kill River. Modern-NY 308 was originally part of the Ulster and Delaware Turnpike which was chartered in 1802 and extended from the west line of the Town of Salisbury in the State of Connecticut to the Susquehanna River at or near the Town of Jericho (now Bainbridge). Route 308 was designated as part of the 1930 renumbering and originally extended from Milan, westward to Rhinecliff. The route was truncated to US 9 in the 1960s. The highway was also to be part of the then-new Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge until plans were changed to involve other routes, and the building site for the bridge was moved about 3 mi (4.8 km) northward.

Things you can do

Here are some tasks awaiting attention:
  • Assess: Review all unassessed articles for quality.
  • Cleanup: Expand and improve Hudson Valley.
  • Expand: Kingston, New York has a long and storied history that needs to be written. The same goes for Poughkeepsie, New York. And there are many articles about painters in the Hudson River School that need to be improved, such as Thomas Cole and Frederic Edwin Church.
  • Infobox: Watch for articles missing relevant infoboxes, including Pleasant Valley (town), New York.
  • NPOV: Help give Gregory R. Ball a more neutral tone.
  • Orphans: Find articles that can link to Sneha Anne Philip.
  • Stubs: State road articles, including New York State Route 113, New York State Route 301, and New York State Route 403. Mountain articles such as History of the Catskill Mountains and Thomas Cole Mountain could also use work.
  • Wikify: Add links to the Hudson Valley portal where appropriate.
  • Other: Add {{WikiProject Hudson Valley}} to the tops of talk pages for Hudson Valley articles.
