Battle of Starokostiantyniv
The Battle of Starokostiantyniv (Ukrainian: Битва під Старокостянтиновим, Polish: Bitwa pod Konstantynowem; 26–28 July 1648) was fought between the Zaporozhian Host against the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth as a part of the Khmelnytsky Uprising. Near the site of the present-day town of Starokostiantyniv in Ukraine, the forces of the Zaporozhian Cossacks under the command of Colonels Maksym Kryvonis and Ivan Hyria attacked and failed to defeat the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth’s forces under the command of Prince Jeremi Wiśniowiecki and Magnate Janusz Tyszkiewicz.
