2022 Stanford Cardinal football team
The 2022 Stanford Cardinal football team represented Stanford University in the Pac-12 Conference during the 2022 NCAA Division I FBS football season. E. J. Smith, son of all-time leading rusher in National Football League (NFL) history, Emmitt Smith, was the team's top running back.
It was Stanford's second straight season at 3–9; just over an hour after the season finale, a home loss to BYU on November 26, Shaw resigned effective immediately. Two weeks later, he was succeeded by Troy Taylor, the head coach at Sacramento State.
