Result	Indecisive Insurgents manage to maintain a significant presence in Mosul and surrounding areas and make the region their last urban stronghold; Insurgents are largely isolated from the rest of the country and not able to conduct coordinated attacks outside of Ninawa.; Major fighting during the Iraq War was largely over following the offensive, leading to the beginning of the withdrawal of United States troops from Iraq and the end of the Iraq War.;
