• Tigray conflict
  • Federal troops capture the city of Adigrat near the Eritrean border in Ethiopia's Tigray Region. Ethiopian government forces are now within 116 km (72 miles) of the heavily defended Tigrayan capital Mekelle. The Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) says Adigrat has experienced "heavy bombardment", but does not confirm the loss of the city. (Al Jazeera)
  • Ethiopia rejects the African Union's offer to mediate an end to the conflict. (The East African)
  • The TPLF report the deaths of nine civilians during the military assault on Adigrat. The Ethiopian government has denied targeting civilians and both the government and military could not be reached for comment. (Reuters)
