The lake lies 6 kilometers (3.7 mi) to the northwest of Krasnovka village, about 3 kilometers (1.9 mi) southwest of the Kazakhstan-Russia border, and 90 kilometers (56 mi) to the ENE of Zhelezinka, the district capital.
