After beginning his career in his native South Africa, Mokotjo came to prominence in the Netherlands with FC Twente and later played in England for Brentford and in the United States for FC Cincinnati. He returned to South Africa to join Sekhukhune United in 2023. Mokotjo represented South Africa at international level.
