By day, KPXQ is powered at 50,000 watts non-directional, the highest output for commercial AM stations. But to protect other stations on 1360 AM from interference, at night it reduces power to 500 watts and uses a directional antenna. The transmitter is on also on Camelback Road, but at a different location near North 73rd Avenue.
