John Marshal (died 1165)
John Marshal (also referred to as John FitzGilbert, died 22 July 1165), was a minor nobleman of Anglo-Norman origins who served as marshal of England and fought in the 12th-century civil war on the side of Empress Matilda. He is best remembered as the father of William Marshal.
