Craig ran for governor of Michigan in 2022, but was disqualified from the ballot due to false signatures and ran a failed write-in campaign for the Republican nomination. On October 3, 2023, he announced that he was running for the open U.S. senate seat in Michigan held by retiring Democratic senator Debbie Stabenow. However, on February 13, 2024, he suspended his U.S. Senate campaign.
