Founded as Hyundai Precision & Industries Corporation (현대정공; 現代精工) in 1977, the company forms the "parts and service" arm for the South Korean automakers Hyundai Motor Company, Genesis Motors and Kia Motors. As of 2014, it was the "world's No. 6 automotive supplier".
