There is a high disparity in both the quality and extent of health services between urban and rural areas. The greatest problems in public health are in the East and South (Louga, Kaolack, and Tambacounda) and the region of Casamance.
The Human Rights Measurement Initiative finds that Senegal is fulfilling 73.3% of what it should be fulfilling for the right to health based on its level of income.
