Al-Muabbada
Girkê Legê (Arabic: المعبدة) is a town in Cizire Province (Hassake), Syria. According to the Syria Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Girkê Legê had a population of 15,759 in the 2004 census. According to the Kurdish news agency "Rudaw", the Ba'athist Party under President Hafez al-Assad changed the name of the town to Girkê Legê. The town is 35 kilometres from the Iraqi border and 15 kilometres from the Turkish border. As of 2004, Girkê Legê is the eighth largest town in Cizire Province . The majority of the inhabitants of the town are Kurds with a large Assyrian minority.
