Fylgja

In Norse mythology, a fylgja (Old Norse: [ˈfylɡjɑ], plural fylgjur [ˈfylɡjuz̠]) is a supernatural being or spirit which accompanies a person in connection to their fate or fortune. They can appear to a person in one sleep as dream-women, or appear while awake, often as a disembodied spiritual form of an enemy.
