Eric Handley

Eric Walter Handley, CBE (12 November 1926 – 17 January 2013) was a British classical scholar, noted for his work on the Greek new comic poet Menander. He was Director of the Institute of Classical Studies, University of London from 1967 to 1984, Professor of Greek at University College London from 1968 to 1984, and Regius Professor of Greek at the University of Cambridge from 1984 to 1994. Handley supported the JACT Greek summer school at Bryanston in Dorset, acting as a tutor on a number of occasions, and lecturing on Menander.
