In April 2022, it was reported that CMT canceled the series, with the show being shopped to other outlets. On April 18, 2024, it was announced that Netflix had ordered a new series titled America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. Despite following the same format as its predecessor, the show will have an entirely new team producing it.
