Crime in Sweden
Crime in Sweden is defined by the Swedish Penal Code (Swedish: brottsbalken) and in other Swedish laws and statutory instruments.
According to the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention, the number of reported crimes in Sweden has increased when measured from the 1950s, consistent with other Western countries in the postwar era, which they say can be explained by a number of factors, such as statistical and legislative changes and increased public willingness to report crime.
