Chukam

Chukam (Persian: چوكام), formerly Bala Mahalleh-ye Chukam (بالامحله چوكام), also Romanized as Bālā Maḩalleh-ye Chūkām; also known as Bāzār Chowgām, Bāzār Chowkām, Bāzār Chūkām, Chokam, Chowkām, Chūkām, and Chyukam, is a city in, and the capital of, Chukam District of Khomam County, Gilan province, Iran.

At the 2006 census, its population was 2,869 in 793 households, when it was a village in the former Chukam Rural District (now Eshkik Rural District of the former Khomam District, Rasht County. The following census in 2011 counted 3,222 people in 994 households. The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 3,096 people in 1,019 households.

In August 2019, the district was separated from the county in the establishment of Khomam County and divided into two districts of two rural districts each, with Khomam as its capital and only city. In March 2023, the village of Bala Mahalleh-ye Chukam in Chukam District was elevated to the status of a city as Chukam.
