The southern flavor of Chinese sausage is commonly known by its Cantonese name lap cheong (or lap chong) (simplified Chinese: 腊肠; traditional Chinese: 臘腸; pinyin: làcháng; Jyutping: laap6 coeng2; Cantonese Yale: laahp chéung).
