Children's Mercy Hospital is the primary location for Children's Mercy Kansas City. The hospital was founded in 1897 by two sisters, a surgeon and a dentist. The hospital quickly grew and expanded its services to all children in the region. In fiscal year 2021, the hospital provided more than $119 million in uncompensated care, including charity care, unreimbursed Medicaid (and other means-tested government programs), and subsidized health services.
