Charlotte and South Carolina Railroad

The Charlotte and South Carolina Railroad began in 1852 and operated until 1869, when it was absorbed by Charlotte, Columbia and Augusta Railroad. The line ran between Charlotte, North Carolina and Columbia, South Carolina. It was the first carrier to serve Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. The railroad was 110 miles (180 km) long and its track gauge was 5 ft (1,524 mm).
