Central District (Sarpol-e Zahab County)

The Central District of Sarpol-e Zahab County (Persian: بخش مرکزی شهرستان سرپل ذهاب) is in Kermanshah province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Sarpol-e Zahab.

At the National Census in 2006, its population was 81,428 in 18,233 households. The following census in 2011 counted 85,193 people in 21,600 households. At the latest census in 2016, the district had 73,942 inhabitants in 20,359 households, by which time Jeygaran Rural District and Sarqaleh Rural District had been transferred from Salas-e Babajani County to the Central District. Qaleh Shahin Rural District had been separated from the district in the establishment of Qaleh Shahin District.

After the census, Dasht-e Zahab, Jeygaran, Posht Tang, and Sarqaleh Rural Districts were separated from the Central District to form the new Dasht-e Zahab District, with the newly established village of Kuik as its capital.
