In 1967, Burnage Grammar School became a non-selective comprehensive and later became Burnage High School for Boys following merger with Ladybarn Secondary Modern School, which was on nearby Briarfield Road/Parrs Wood Road, in Withington. The Briarfield/Parrs Wood Road site then became the lower school (for years 7 to 9) while the Burnage Lane site remained the upper school (for years 10 and 11 plus the sixth form).
