Bloor–Lansdowne station was announced in June 2016. As of March 2023, a construction contract had not been awarded as the City of Toronto has not secured enough funding to cover the increased costs of the project. The City is requesting $234 million from the province to cover SmartTrack's extra costs. The contract was to have been tendered on March 4, 2023 and should be awarded no later than April 5. Construction was planned to start in February 2024 for completion in May 2027.
