Atygay is one of the main lakes surrounding Ekibastuz and is located 6.5 kilometers (4.0 mi) to the ENE of the city. The lake is part of the Irtysh Water Management Basin. Atygay village lies 4 kilometers (2.5 mi) to the west of its western shore.
