Askia Muhammad Bani
Askia Muhammad Bani was the ruler of the Songhai Empire from 1586 to 1588. He was elevated by his brothers after they had deposed Askia Al-Hajj, his predecessor. The depredations of a corrupt and arrogant royal official in Timbuktu sparked a rebellion led by Basma Muhammad Sadiq (a son of Askia Dawud). Muhammad Bani died before battle was joined, however, and was succeeded by his brother Ishaq.
