Arturo Lorenzoni

Arturo Lorenzoni (born 19 September 1966 in Padua) is a politician from Veneto, Italy.

Lorenzoni, an electronic engineer and professor at the University of Padua, joined Civic Coalition, a green municipal party in Padua, in 2016 and was nominated candidate for mayor, through a closed primary election. In the 2017 municipal election, Lorenzoni came third with 22.8% of the vote in the first round. After joining forces with Sergio Giordani, an independent supported by the Democratic Party (PD) who had won 29.2%, for the run-off, Lorenzoni was appointed deputy mayor in charge of public transport.

In the 2020 regional election Lorenzoni was the candidate for president of the PD-led centre-left coalition, but was defeated by incumbent president Luca Zaia of Liga Veneta 76.8% to 15.7%. Lorenzoni was however elected to the Regional Council of Veneto and was appointed leader of the opposition.
