In November 2018, the company was said to have provided access to approximately 10 billion historical records, to have 3 million paying subscribers, and to have sold 18 million DNA kits to customers. By 2022, this number had risen to 30 billion records according to the company. On December 4, 2020, The Blackstone Group acquired the company in a deal valued at $4.7 billion. By 2023, Ancestry is the largest provider of consumer DNA testing in the world with a network of over 25 million users, and Ancestry DNA testing is now available in 128 countries around the globe.
