The subtitle was announced in September 2022. The season received mixed reviews from critics, with praise going towards the seasons visuals and performances of Tovey and Mantello and criticism for its writing, lack of character arcs, shorter episodes and performances of Carver, Cole Powell and Bernhard, aswell as the lack of mainstays in the season; and became the first iteration of the show not to be nominated for any Primetime Emmy Awards.
