Al-Bayat (tribe)

Al-Bayat (Arabic: قبيلة البيات) (Nisba: Al-Bayati, البياتي) is an Iraqi Arab tribe descended from Tayy. The sheikh of the tribe is Wassam Sammy Beg Al-Bayati. The tribe exists throughout Iraq, especially in the provinces of Kirkuk, Saladin, Diyala, Maysan and Anbar, and in smaller numbers in other Arab countries such as Syria and Jordan. Members of the tribe generally speak Iraqi Arabic and Iraqi Turkmen.
