It was the 3rd edition of the Frisco Bowl, and one of the 2019–20 bowl games concluding the 2019 FBS football season. Sponsored by restaurant franchise Tropical Smoothie Cafe, the game was officially known as the Tropical Smoothie Cafe Frisco Bowl.
